The un-titled Hiei and Botan shrine clique Yu Yu Hakusho: Soeki Saga
Episode 1: The Sample

A black haired teen walked casually through the red and orange forest around him. A gentle autumn breeze swept through the air, sending scattered leaves fluttering about in its wake. The boy was clad in blue denim jeans and a plaid short sleeve shirt, red and yellow with black squares on it. Over the shirt he wore a green unzipped jacket and had his hands shoved in its pockets. His hazel chocolate eyes remained lock on he ground ahead of him as though he were in thought.
He was known as Yusuke Urameshi, Detective of the Spirit World and heir of Raizen, one of the three demon kings of the Makai(demon world), who had recently died. Yusuke had only recently returned from a tournament in that parallel world which decided the next ruler of the demon world. He had lost in a battle against a demon king called Yomi and thus was disqualified from the tournament. It was alright with him though, since he was finally able to come back home to the Ningenkai(human world).
It had only been a month ago that he had returned and had been reunited with his fiancé, Keiko Ukimora. The last several weeks had been happy and carefree ones indeed, and he loved every moment of it. Times would change soon enough though, and almost on que, the herald of such events came soaring down from the sky on a flying oar, her blue hair, tied back in a high pony tail, fluttering about. Yusuke’s head snapped up to look at her.
“Yo, Botan. What’s up?” He asked with a small smile. He hadn’t seen the ferry girl lately, considering there had not been any missions. All of the demons were too tired after the tournament to stir up any trouble, plus, Koenma(Prince of Spirit World) knew that Yusuke would want plenty of time to spend with Keiko.
Botan’s violet gaze looked somewhat confused and worried, yet relaxed at the same time. Weird combination, but she was a somewhat weird girl. Though she more than made up for it with her beauty. She patted her pink kimono to neaten it out.
“Koenma-sama sent me here to get you. He said it was urgent.” She replied hastily. Yusuke raised an eyebrow.
“Have you gotten the others yet?”
“Kuwabara and Kurama are already in Rekai(Spirit World), and we don’t know where Hiei is. Last time we looked, he was scouting some area for Mokuro-sama(One of the three demon kings. Weird how they call her a king, since Mokuro is a female. Half bionic, but female nonetheless.)."
“Alright. Let’s get going then.” Yusuke gruffed as he hopped onto her oar. She turned to look at him.
“You’re not going to tell Keiko?”
“She’s off at some Museum on a school trip.” Yusuke informed his assistant. Botan’s mouth formed an ‘o’ as she kicked off of the ground and the oar lifted into the air, darting up into the clouds.
“Hold on!” She said happily as the air blasted into both of their faces. Yusuke squinted hard so that he could see where they were going, and by the time they landed, he was on his knees kissing the ground.
“Thank kami! Geeze, Botan, that thing is a flying death trap when you drive it!” He moaned as he hugged the concrete beneath him. They were at the Rekai Palace now, high above the clouds. Botan huffed and stalked past Yusuke.
“Let’s just go see Koenma-sama, okay?” She gruffed as she clenched her fists. Yusuke broke out laughing as he fallowed her through the palace halls and into Koenma’s office.
“Hey, Urameshi!” Kuwabara exclaimed as Yusuke entered behind Botan “I haven’t seen you in like…..” He trailed off, counting his fingers, “…….forever!”
“Hey, Kuwabara. Kurama.” He added, nodding to a red head standing beside Kuwabara.
“Hello, Yusuke.” Kurama offered in greeting. Kuwabara was of a muscular build and had orange curly hair. He had the look of a buffoon plastered on his large face, and possessed a massive chin. Kurama was a boy with red hair trailing down his back and emerald eyes. While Kuwabara’s attire was somewhat sloppish, Kurama’s was clean and neat.
“Good, you’re here.” Popped up a voice. The chair at the desk before the four(including Botan) spun around to reveal a teenager sucking on a pacifier with the word ‘Jr.’ plastered on his forehead. He had messy brown hair and wore a royal robe and red scarf.
“Hey, Koenma.” Yusuke and Kuwabara mumbled. They weren’t that excited about getting a new mission, seeing as how they had both been enjoying their small breaks. Kuwabara had been spending most of his time at the temple with Yukina, who was Hiei’s sister. As you could have guessed, Hiei would not be happy if he found out.
“It’s good to see you guys. Now, let’s focus on the matter at hand.” Koenma spoke as he pressed a button on a small remote in his hand. A screen came down behind him and images flashed up on it. The first was an aerial photo of a large complex.
“This is Kemikaru Industries, located in the United States. They are responsible for a recent scientific breakthrough.” Koenma began, pressing another button on the remote. A new picture popped up. On the screen was displayed a shot of a beaker containing a glowing blue liquid with dark green blotches in it.
“They have managed to create a new chemical by combining several molecules of different elements. It is a truly unique compound. It was uncovered while the scientists were trying to find a way to break down gold and an accident occurred. Since it was an accident, they do not know exactly WHAT atoms went into the compound. Just as they were nearing the discovery of how it was made, the compound was stolen. It is the only sample of the compound in the world. YOU will be retrieving it.” Koenma said, glancing at Yusuke and Company.
“Why? What’s it have to do with Spirit World?” Yusuke asked, staring at the screen.
“It has everything to do with the human world, which means it is of the concern of spirit world. The chemical is highly unstable and its side affects on humans is unknown, but could be fatal.” Koenma answered.
“So….. we’re going to America?” Kuwabara asked. Koenma shook his head.
“No, you’re staying in Japan. We detected a life form, a male human with extraordinary spirit energy, traveling across the ocean to Japan. They arrived a day ago and headed off in the direction of Mt.Fuji before we lost track of him.” Koenma stated.
“So we’re to capture this potential thief and bring him back for questioning?” Kurama asked. Koenma nodded.
“Precisely.” Koenma answered as the screen turned off. Yusuke groaned and slid his hand down his face.
“The last thing I wanna do right now is mission, Koenma.” Yusuke groaned. Koenma nodded apologetically.
“I know, Yusuke. But we need you to investigate it, and with Hiei gone, your team is already a man down.” The prince answered sadly, “Your train for the mountain will leave at nine AM tomorrow morning. Don’t be late.” He finished, tossing each of them a ticket, including Botan.
“Don’t kill him unless absolutely necessary.” Koenma said in final as the gang turned and left. He slouched back into his chair and sighed.
“What does the chemical even do, anyways?” Koenma asked himself aloud as he began rummaging through documents, looking for anything that could answer his question.

A shadowed and lean figure stood watching the event unfold before him on a small screen. A deep chuckle escaped from his throat as another form came up beside him.
“Koenma has sent his dogs on us?” The second figure asked. His voice was higher than the other’s, but still deep. The other figure nodded.
“Hai. They’ll arrive at the foot of Mt.Fukji tomorrow evening.”
“You’re going to send Dread to deal with them?”
“Hai. He is more than enough to handle the likes of them.”
“They are a man down. What if the one absent comes around looking for revenge? I’ve heard he’s mastered the Dragon of the Darkness Flame.”
“I’ve already taken care of him. By my calculations, he should be dead by now.”
“Who did you send?”
“Pain.”
“Ah. I see. You have everything planned out?”
“Hai. In one week’s time the human race will be no more.” The first figure spoke as he turned about and disappeared into the shadows, leaving the second to watch the screen.
